An Estimation of Corn yield losses arising from water shortage by measuring thermalized neutrons

This study applied a nuclear technique based on thermalized neutrons (TNs) to estimate maize yield losses arising from water shortage. Crop biomass consists of water, and light hydrogen (1H) existing in slows down fast neutrons. Hence, TNs can be probably suitable predictors determine crop losses. A greenhouse experiment was performed evaluate the effects various levels stress quantify relationships between TNs. Once ripened, wet weights samples were measured, then put around an access tube Hydro-probe Neutron Meter count Thereafter, transferred oven for measuring dry weight turn, equivalent (BWE). Findings showed that average values ratio positively negatively correlated with BWE damage (%), respectively. The regression models estimating cross-validated leave-one-out technique.
